Our youth mission team shared about their experiences in Guatemala on Tuesday, April 18, and an offering was taken to help build homes in Panabaj. This already poverty-stricken area was devastated by mudslides last October, with 600-1,000 people killed. Many more were left homeless. The team left $1200 of team money to rebuild homes, and another $481 was given in offering on the 18th. This letter was received from David Glanville, owner of the Posada, who is helping coordinate home rebuilding for the people in the area.
Dear friends:
Thank you and the members of your church for your generous donation of $1200, to be used for building houses for the people of Panabaj who have been left homeless. You cannot imagine the great help this is to the recipients. They have been living in tents. You are helping lift them out of a sense of hopelessness and loss.

We have finished one small house for an older couple who lost all fourteen of their children. We spent about $670 on that building. The door was purchased yesterday. We are planning on spending the rest for a house for two boys that lost 41 members of their family, including mother, father, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and grandparents. The younger boy had a bad knee injury from the mudslide and the older one is a bit mentally challenged.More Mission pictures >>> Set 1 Set 2With the additional donation, we will install running water to the two houses. I will get out there and take some photos later today and send them by tomorrow.
On behalf of the recipients of the aid for housing for the victims of the mudslide in Panabaj, I would like to thank you and the members of First Methodist Church of Corvallis for their generous donation.
